This article will walk you through how to enable Printer Redirection to your remote machine. This will allow you to print to locally installed printers in the event you're connected over SSL VPN.
Note: In some cases, printer redirection is disabled for your remote, this is typically done for more enterprise environments where printers are deployed over an IPSec VPN.
Follow these steps to enable printer redirection:
1. On your local desktop right click the RDP icon that you use to connect to your VM (Remote machine) and select 'Edit'.
2. On the window that pops up, you should see tabs at the top. Select the Local Resources tab and move on to the next step.
NOTE: If you do not see the tabs at the top of the window, select the show options at the bottom of the properties window.
3. At the bottom make sure there is a check in the box next to 'Printers'.
4. Go back to the 'General' tab and hit the save button at the bottom to save your changes.
At this point, you're all set, if you're already connected you will need to disconnect from the VM (Remote machine) and reconnect using the icon to enforce the changes you just made.
